Do Not Tolerate Anti-Muslim Hate From Your Colleagues

You need to publicly condemn the anti-Muslim statements from your Republican colleagues and push for real consequences, not just private conversations about "tone." Rep. Andy Ogles has declared that "Muslims don't belong in American society" and shared anti-Muslim content over 100 times. Rep. Randy Fine wrote "We need more Islamophobia, not less" and responded to an image of what appeared to be a dead Palestinian child with "Quite well, actually! Thanks for the pic!" Sen. Tommy Tuberville compared a Muslim elected official to the 9/11 terrorists. These aren't isolated incidents. Sixty members have joined a "Sharia-Free America Caucus." Claiming there's "popular sentiment" about Sharia law in America is not leadership. It's enabling bigotry. Muslims make up just 1 percent of American adults, yet they've become acceptable targets for hatred within your party. This rhetoric has consequences. It endangers Muslim Americans and betrays our constitutional values. Either you believe in religious freedom or you don't. Silence makes you complicit. Demand that leadership strip committee assignments from members making these statements and make clear this hatred has no place in Congress.
