An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Enforce the Hatch Act

22 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Please work to enforce the Hatch Act. As you know, the Hatch Act was passed in 1939. Its purpose was twofold: to ensure federal programs were administered in a nonpartisan way and to protect federal employees from coercion as they did their jobs. The website of the Small Business Administration, I see a “Special announcement” that begins with “Senate Democrats voted to block a clean federal funding bill (H.R. 5371), leading to a government shutdown that is preventing the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) from serving America’s 36 million small businesses.” This is a clear violation of the Hatch Act. Enforce the law; as Tom Homan said recently: “ … we’re a nation of laws, right? we gotta enforce the laws … we don’t pick and choose what we enforce, we’re here to enforce the law.“ Thank you for enforcing all the laws.
