CONGRESS MUST OPEN AN IMMEDIATE IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY TO ESTABLISH THE FULL RECORD ON KASH PATEL As your constituent, I urge you to open an immediate impeachment inquiry into FBI Director Kash Patel, establish a complete factual record, and remove him from office if the evidence confirms abuse of power. This is not a partisan request. It is a request that Congress carry out its constitutional responsibility to ensure that federal law enforcement operates independently, lawfully, and effectively. Public reporting by Reuters and Associated Press describes specific allegations that require formal Congressional review, including claims of retaliatory firings of FBI agents tied to sensitive investigations and concerns about broader institutional impacts. RETALIATION ALLEGATIONS REQUIRE A FULL AND FACTUAL RECORD Reuters reported on March 19, 2026 that two former FBI agents sued Patel, alleging they were fired for work on the investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election, terminated without a hearing, and given letters that did not cite misconduct. AP reported the agents claimed strong performance records. These are allegations, not proven findings. However, if substantiated, such actions would raise serious concerns about retaliation against lawful investigative work and misuse of federal authority. POTENTIAL LEGAL AND CONSTITUTIONAL VIOLATIONS MUST BE EXAMINED Reuters reported that the lawsuit seeks remedies for alleged violations of free speech and due process rights. If proven, firing agents for lawful work while denying ordinary process could implicate constitutional protections and federal employment safeguards. These are precisely the types of issues that require sworn testimony, document production, and careful Congressional examination. PERSONNEL DECISIONS MAY HAVE UNDERMINED SPECIALIZED FBI CAPACITY Beyond individual firings, reporting suggests broader institutional consequences. Reuters reported reductions in staffing and reassignment of personnel within domestic terrorism operations, along with changes to investigative tracking tools. Sources warned these changes could weaken the Bureau’s ability to monitor and disrupt extremist threats. If accurate, such shifts could reduce specialized expertise and continuity in mission-critical areas. A STRONG, FULLY FUNCTIONING FBI IS ESSENTIAL TO NATIONAL SECURITY AND PUBLIC SAFETY The FBI protects the country against terrorism, espionage, cyberattacks, organized crime, public corruption, civil rights violations, and major violent crime. When experienced personnel are lost or reassigned in ways that disrupt operations, the consequences can include delayed investigations, reduced deterrence, and increased risk to the public. If these conditions are developing, delay in examining them risks compounding institutional damage that may not be quickly reversible. THE IMPEACHMENT PROCESS EXISTS TO ESTABLISH FACTS AND PROTECT INSTITUTIONS The Constitution provides impeachment not only as a remedy, but as a structured process for establishing the full factual record when credible concerns arise. If evidence shows retaliation, denial of protections, or degradation of operational capacity through personnel decisions, such conduct would constitute abuse of power incompatible with this office. CONGRESS MUST ESTABLISH THE FACTS AND ACT ON THE EVIDENCE Regardless of party, Congress owes the public a clear and complete accounting of whether federal law enforcement authority has been exercised appropriately. Establishing that record is essential to maintaining trust in government institutions. Congress should: (1) Open an immediate impeachment inquiry into Director Kash Patel. (2) Hold hearings, compel testimony, and obtain documents necessary to establish a complete factual record. (3) Examine the impact of personnel decisions on specialized FBI capabilities, including domestic terrorism operations. (4) Remove him from office if the evidence confirms abuse of power. Thank you.
