Protect apolitical military leadership for national security

The unprecedented firings of top military leaders, including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. and the first woman to serve on the Joint Chiefs, Adm. Lisa Franchetti, represent an alarming purge that could severely undermine our national security. Removing highly experienced and respected officers and replacing them with unqualified individuals based on political loyalty raises grave concerns about the administration's priorities and its commitment to a strong, apolitical military. These dismissals appear aimed at installing ideological partisans rather than the most capable leaders to keep our nation safe. The attempted replacement of the Judge Advocate Generals across the services would compromise the integrity and independence of the military justice system. This brazen political interference in leadership threatens to degrade military readiness, weaken civilian control over the armed forces, and erode America's standing as a democratic nation governed by the rule of law. I urge you to condemn these dangerous actions that put our national security at risk by politicizing and undermining our professional military leadership. Our service members deserve principled, qualified leadership focused solely on protecting our country, not advancing any administration's partisan agenda. The bedrock principles of an apolitical military accountable to civilian authority must be firmly upheld.
