Block the SAVE Act — It's a Voter Suppression Scheme

Vote no on the SAVE Act and strip it from any defense bill it's been attached to. This legislation is designed to purge eligible voters from the rolls, not protect elections. Alabama, Virginia, Texas, and Florida all tried similar citizenship verification schemes using driver's license and public benefits data — and every single time, tens of thousands of naturalized citizens were wrongfully flagged as ineligible. The SAVE Act would mandate those same broken data sources nationwide. The federal databases this bill relies on are known to be unreliable. Former SSA senior adviser Kathleen Romig confirmed the DHS SAVE database produces faulty results — someone naturalized in 2025 likely wouldn't appear as a citizen unless they manually updated their records. Worse, the SSA data involved includes Social Security numbers, mother's maiden names, and dates of birth — what Romig called "the keys to the kingdom" for identity theft. Courts have already permanently blocked Trump's executive attempts to harvest voter data because they're unconstitutional. Congress must not hand him a legal workaround. Do everything in your power to block this bill. Attaching it to must-pass defense legislation is a pressure tactic, not governance. Legitimate citizens will lose their right to vote. That is the point.
