DON’T YOU DARE TOUCH MY VOTE

Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas. I’m reading with dismay the concerted attempts across the country, led by Texas, to make it harder to vote. I realize that a lot of the attempts will fail or will be challenged in court. But there’s a great chance that enough will succeed to successfully disenfranchise citizens attempting to exercise their most important American freedom. Their right to choose governmental representation. Nothing screams loser louder than changing the rules to benefit those who cannot win by legitimate means. Here is the issue in a nutshell... “Former President Donald Trump's stolen election lie has convinced 3 of every 4 Republicans that there was widespread voter fraud in last year's election, according to a December Quinnipiac University poll, even though there is broad evidence that it is extremely rare. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's office spent 22,000 hours looking for voter fraud and uncovered just 16 cases of false addresses on registration forms, according to The Houston Chronicle. Nearly 17 million voters are registered in Texas.” So we the people continue to hear the disingenuous claim that because the population is so concerned about voter fraud, that something MUST be done. This self-perpetuating myth is a fraud in itself. Couch it how you will. Taking away our right to vote is not going to be a winning strategy for your party. Maybe you should instead work on your product. Maybe then you can sell it on the merits instead of trying to pull a dishonest swindle.
