I’m writing to express deep concern regarding two recent developments that demand immediate congressional attention and action.
First, I understand that the White House has denied Maryland Governor Wes Moore’s request for $16 million in FEMA disaster relief—with no stated rationale. This decision comes in sharp contrast to the approval of similar aid just a day earlier for Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, and West Virginia. Federal disaster relief must remain nonpartisan and responsive to need, regardless of a state’s political alignment. Disasters do not discriminate, and neither should our federal response. Maryland, California, and other impacted states must not be excluded from critical recovery support due to perceived political differences.
Second, I urge you to investigate reports that a close associate of former President Trump—his former personal criminal defense attorney—held a private, in-person meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted sex trafficker with ties to the Epstein case. Given the gravity of the allegations surrounding Epstein and the deep public interest in uncovering the full truth, any such private meeting is deeply concerning. The public deserves transparency and justice—not secrecy and potential backroom deals.
These matters are not only about policy—they are about preserving trust in our institutions. I respectfully ask that you speak out publicly on both issues, pursue appropriate oversight, and advocate for equitable disaster aid and full transparency in matters related to the Epstein investigation.
Thank you for your leadership and commitment to justice.
