Congress must ban devices that covert guns to automatic weapons!

The decision by the Trump administration to permit the sale of forced reset triggers poses a severe risk to public safety. These devices enable semi automatic firearms to fire at rates comparable to machine guns, circumventing long-standing regulations. Their sole purpose is to increase a weapon’s destructive capacity, far exceeding what is required for legitimate self-defense or hunting purposes. Allowing widespread access to such accessories, increases the likelihood of horrific mass shootings, like the tragedy in Las Vegas, where a gunman utilized bump stocks to carry out one of the deadliest attacks in modern US history. Congress must act swiftly to prohibit the possession and distribution of forced reset triggers and revisit legislation to unambiguously ban any mechanism designed to convert firearms into fully automatic weapons. The safety and well-being of our communities should take precedence over the proliferation of these dangerous and unnecessary devices.
