An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

No Shutdown

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

As an American citizen born here in the 50s and raised in New England I am appalled at what is going on in Washington DC today. Partisan politics has become a spectator sport like basketball and football, where people take sides and winning becomes an end in itself. What happened to good old fashioned compromise? What became of the phrase “reaching across the aisle”? Nowadays that aisle in the Congressional chambers has become more like a minefield. It doesn’t even qualify as a DMZ!!! We, the voting public, have no stomach for politics that serves no other purpose than the reelection of its members. We need you to stop the games and get to work governing our country. All the talk about government shutdown is nonsense; it’s just another form of brinksmanship and does not adequately address people’s needs. The people who will suffer the most from a government shutdown are those of us who elected YOU to a position of authority in order that you EXPEDITE the process of government, not shut it down! DO NOT ALLOW A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN!!
