Tell Hawley and Schmitt: REJECT Kash Patel’s nomination to direct the FBI!

FBI Directors have historically been high-ranking leaders from within the Department of Justice prior to being nominated. By contrast, Kash Patel has never managed an agency or large component of an agency and has very limited federal law enforcement experience. High-ranking officials who worked with him during the first Trump administration even opposed his continued employment within the administration. Kash Patel has repeatedly stated his intention to “come after” perceived enemies of himself and Donald Trump. He even has a list, published in his 2022 book, of 60 people he calls “corrupt actors”. If confirmed, Patel could use the FBI’s vast law enforcement and surveillance apparatus to harass and prosecute perceived foes. This, quite simply, is disqualifying. Confirming an unqualified individual who intends to seek retribution as FBI director would be disastrous. As an integral part of federal law enforcement, the FBI needs a leader dedicated to prosecuting violent crime, terrorism, corruption and civil rights violations. These are critical functions that help keep Americans safe, and should be the priorities of any future FBI director — not targeting opponents. REJECT his nomination to be FBI Director.
