Co-Sponsor and Pass the ‘Drain the Swamp Act’ Package of Bills Now

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to Co-sponsor and vote yes on the Drain the Swamp Act introduced this summer by Rep. Landsman and others. It’s a bundle of bills that forms a more comprehensive set of laws to address the core problems. It’s vital that we begin to address the corruption we’re seeing right now, and I agree with the numerous loopholes it addresses as a step towards accountability such as: Banning betting on political events and other government actions in prediction markets. Prohibiting presidents, their immediate families, and their businesses from suing the federal government without bipartisan approval from Congress Establishing 18-year term limits for the Supreme Court Suspending pay for members of Congress during government shutdowns Revoking pensions for Congress, cabinet officials, and former presidents convicted of felonies Establishing ethics rules for the Supreme Court Overturning Citizens Unite Preventing abuse of the presidential pardon power And there’s more to this bundle designed as a large overhaul plan dubbed the Great American Moment. My vote depends on elected officials who are willing to put real teeth into our laws to prevent what we’re seeing in the Trump White House right now. I urge you to support this bill ‘bundle’ now and pass it as soon as practicable. Actual enforceable laws show constituents that accountability isn't just a campaign slogan. Thank you.
