An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Demand Accountability for SSA–DOGE Hatch Act Violations

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing as your constituent because I am deeply alarmed by reports that two employees connected to the Department of Government Efficiency were referred for possible Hatch Act violations after the Social Security Administration discovered their contacts with a political advocacy group seeking Americans’ data in connection with efforts to overturn election results. Americans must be able to trust that Social Security data will never be used, directly or indirectly, for political purposes. Even the possibility that SSA records were discussed or considered for partisan use is a serious breach of public trust. I am asking you to take one immediate step. Please publicly state that using Social Security data for political purposes is unacceptable, and initiate or sign a joint congressional oversight letter to the SSA, DOJ, and the Office of Special Counsel demanding documents, timelines, and briefings about DOGE’s access to SSA data and its contacts with political groups. Please act to prevent further harm to democratic trust.
