Reject Paul Ingrassia's Nomination for Office of Special Counsel
I am writing to urge you to vote against the nomination of Paul Ingrassia to lead the Office of Special Counsel. Recent revelations about Mr. Ingrassia's character and conduct make him unfit for this crucial position.
POLITICO has reported on deeply troubling text messages allegedly sent by Mr. Ingrassia. These messages contain racist and offensive comments about Martin Luther King Jr., Black people, and other minorities. Even more alarming, Mr. Ingrassia reportedly admitted to having a "Nazi streak." While his lawyer has questioned the authenticity of these texts, they align with Mr. Ingrassia's known ties to far-right figures and his previous public statements.
The Office of Special Counsel is responsible for protecting federal employees from prohibited personnel practices, including discrimination. It's inconceivable that someone who has expressed such bigoted views could fairly and impartially execute these duties. Moreover, these allegations come on top of existing concerns about Mr. Ingrassia's nomination, including a sexual harassment complaint and accusations of antisemitism.
The integrity of our federal workforce and the principles of equal opportunity are at stake. Confirming Mr. Ingrassia would send a dangerous message that racism and discrimination are acceptable in our highest offices. It would undermine the very mission of the Office of Special Counsel.
I implore you to take a stand against hate and prejudice. Vote no on Paul Ingrassia's nomination and demand a nominee who will uphold the values of equality and justice for all Americans. Our diverse federal workforce and the American people deserve nothing less.
