MAGA efforts so far…
Criminal contempt charges about to be filed against the Trump administration for sending a bunch of guys out of the country without due process under our laws. No one seems to know what’s going on so we look forward to the buck actually stopping somewhere when it all sorts out.
We continue to watch the economy try to survive an assassination attempt. Stocks fell again after Trump put limits on chip sales to China and after Fed chair Jerome Powell told the Economic Club of Chicago that Trump’s tariffs will have “significantly larger than anticipated…economic effects, which will include higher inflation and slower growth.”
Global investors have dumped a record amount of U.S. stocks in the past two months.
Trump lies that the US has been bringing in $2B a day in tariffs, some of which he claims comes from his new levies, but US Customs & Border Protection says the US is taking in only $250M a day.
American farmers are freaking. Tariffs are going to wreak havoc on their livelihood. Seems counterproductive to take away their markets and then pay them for doing so. But I expect that’s what will happen. Y’all get generous when constituent votes are on the line.
US tourism industry might take a tumble. Goldman Sachs estimates that we could lose almost $90B as foreign tourists stay away from the US and boycott American products.
Trump is escalating attacks on Maine governor Janet Mills for defending her state, and federal, laws as written.
Mills said the administration is trying “to pressure the State of Maine to ignore the Constitution and abandon the rule of law.”
Would this be considered weaponization of government?
Trump has attacked Harvard, who refused to succumb to extortion, by pulling $2B in federal funding. Now he’s ordered the IRS to take away their tax exempt status. All because they would not yield to a political takeover by his administration.
Same question.
This is blatantly illegal. There’s apparently not a single competent attorney left in the Trump administration.
Revisit the clip of then-senator JD Vance on Fox when a right-wing group falsely alleged the IRS was targeting them. "This is about whether we have functional constitutional government in this country,” Vance told host Laura Ingraham. “If the IRS can go after you because of what you think or what you believe or what you do, we'd no longer live in a free country.“
Remember when y’all used to believe in constitutionality?
At least we’ve forgotten about the price of eggs.
