An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect our sensitive and private voter registration data from the DOJ

3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Do not allow the State of Nevada to hand over our sensitive and private voter registration data to the DOJ! I recently read in an article published by AP news that the US Justice Department filed federal lawsuits against Nevada (and other states) recently for “failing to produce statewide voter registration lists upon request.” It is my understanding that some of the data sought by the DOJ includes names, dates of birth, residential addresses, driver’s license numbers, and partial Social Security numbers. If the DOJ persists, then persist with crucial direct questioning on a public platform. Push for the DOJ to publicly answer critical questions. Some of the questions should be: Why do they need this data? How is their request legal? How is their request constitutional? How will this data be used? How do citizens and the state know whether the department will follow privacy laws to protect the information?
