Deborah Dorbert, 33, Florida. She was forced to carry her baby to term with a fatal anomaly called Potter Syndrome. Her baby died in her arms gasping for air 94 minutes after birth. She and her husband and son are still trying to recover emotionally from this tragedy.
Dani, 40, Texas. Her water broke at 20 weeks. Her baby died. She tried to arrange an abortion on NM, but developed an infection and was hospitalized. There were no providers left in TX to do 2nd trimester abortions. She asked the hospital for a C section but they refused and she went through labor and delivery. “It made an awful, senseless situation even worse.”
Samantha, 33,Florida. She had her first prenatal exam at 9 weeks. At 11 weeks a fatal anomaly was suspected so she had a “mad dash” to get all the testing done before the 15 week limit. She terminated the pregnancy at 14 weeks, but still wishes she had more time for testing and making a decision.
There are millions of stories like this in states with abortion restrictions and bans. Literally, women are dying without appropriate medical care. How can anyone defend forced pregnancy? I truly don’t understand that. Let women and doctors decide what’s best for them. Abortion is healthcare.
Making abortion illegal only ends safe abortions. And it makes women and babies suffer. Codify the right to abortion.
