Speak Out Against the Dismantling of the Department of Education

I am writing to demand that you speak out—and act—against the dismantling of the Department of Education. Every child in America deserves access to a well-funded, high-quality public school. Education is not a privilege for the wealthy; it is a right for every single child in this nation.
A strong public education system is the foundation of a strong, productive country. When we invest in our children, we invest in our future workforce, our democracy, and our ability to compete on the global stage. When we fail to do so, we weaken our nation and deny children the opportunity to thrive.
The Department of Education exists to ensure fairness, protect civil rights, and provide resources to states and schools that need it most. Dismantling it would roll back decades of progress, especially for rural communities, low-income families, and students with disabilities. This is not reform—it is abandonment.
We must fully fund public education—not starve it. We must ensure that today’s children, tomorrow’s children, and future generations all have the same opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. That is what Americans want, and it is what our children deserve.
I urge you to take a clear stand: oppose efforts to dismantle the Department of Education, protect funding for public schools, and defend every child’s right to a strong, accessible education.
