The “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act" is a dangerous farce and must be defeated. If passed, it would be another step towards the intense dehumanization of trans people. As constituent who cares about true equal protection under the law, I urge you to reject this legislation.
Trans athletes are such a tiny proportion of the population and not a danger to anyone. They just want to be able to swim or play soccer like everyone else. These claims that there is an army of dangerous trans people out to destroy women's sports is a clear distraction from the very real pillaging of our country going on at the hands of billionaires, climate change crises, and health care and housing crises. We need real solutions to real problems, not sacrificing real people's lives to made-up problems.
Trans Americans are counting on their representatives to not just resist this bill but to do so loudly and vocally. Trans people deserve the same Title IX protections as everyone else. They deserve humanity and dignity. They deserve not to be abandoned out of crass political calculations and cowardice.
Don't be a coward, and encourage your colleagues to stand up too.
