CA Reopening Concerns

Good afternoon, I am writing you today to urge restraint and caution as we reopen the state. I have heard that the state is considering/planning to follow the CDC guidance that allows for vaccinated persons to stop masking but asking non-vaccinated to continue masking. This is concerning to me on several fronts. So many people have been in denial of the virus since the beginning and have already refused to wear masks. Dropping the mask requirements for some but not all will lead to confusion and more of these COVID- deniers going out in public without a mask. This is super concerning for me as I have unvaccinated children who won’t be eligible for the shot until the last age group is approved. Additionally, there are people who will not be able to get the vaccine or for whom the vaccine is not as effective. We owe it to these groups to continue masking until a higher proportion of society is vaccinated. Please do the right thing and continue the mask mandate until a larger percentage of Californians are vaccinated. Thank you for your consideration.
