Restore Deleted DOE Energy Saver Pages and Investigate the Removals

Congress must investigate why the Department of Energy quietly deleted at least 1,662 webpages from its Energy Saver section and work to restore them immediately. These weren't obscure policy documents — they were practical guides on keeping homes cool, reducing utility bills, and protecting families during heatwaves. More than 300 of the removed pages had over 160,000 views in the 30 days before they disappeared. The timing is not a coincidence. The deletions coincide directly with the Trump administration's proposed rollback of appliance efficiency standards — framed as "Permanently End Green New Scam Appliance Mandates" — which would undo decades of policies that have kept household energy costs down. The Appliance Standards Awareness Project estimates the next round of efficiency updates alone could save households $160 a year. Stripping that information from the public while simultaneously gutting the standards that generate those savings is a double hit to working families. The DOE didn't even respond when asked about the removals. Congress needs to find out why, and put that information back where Americans can find it.
