Vote No on the SAVE Act

Vote no on the SAVE Act. This bill doesn't protect elections—it blocks eligible Americans from voting. Noncitizen voting is already a federal crime. Utah examined over 2 million registered voters and found one confirmed instance of noncitizen registration and zero instances of noncitizen voting. Federal data shows only 0.04% of voter verification cases flag as potential noncitizens. When Kansas implemented a similar state law, it blocked 31,000 eligible U.S. citizens from registering while addressing a problem that affected 0.002% of voters. The law was struck down in federal court. The SAVE Act would force voters to present documents that cost between $65 and $1,385 and require in-person registration at election offices. Over 51% of Americans don't have a valid passport. Rural voters in Western states would drive an average of 260 miles to reach an election office. Sixty-nine million married women don't have birth certificates matching their current legal name. Nearly half of Black Americans under 30 lack ID with their current name and address, and many older Black Americans born before the civil rights era were never issued birth certificates. This bill solves a nonexistent problem by making it harder for millions of eligible citizens to vote. That's voter suppression, not election security.
