The violent insurrection in the Capitol on January 6th was terrifying and dismaying to watch. The idea that an angry mob, whipped into a frenzy by extremist propaganda from a would-be dictator who feared facing justice once no longer in office after losing a fair and democratic election, would besiege our nation’s seat of government *while in session*, that they would put the lives of our elected officials and their staff at risk, YOUR lives, is absolutely abhorrent. Even more concerning is the idea that this was a coordinated attack, planned and funded weeks in advance and potentially facilitated by sitting members of Congress. These events must be investigated thoroughly and completely by a bipartisan commission to expose the participants and bring consequences to anyone who actively worked in support of these efforts to overthrow the US government. Failure to bring justice to these seditionists will ensure future attempts.
