Request for Comprehensive Review of Inland Port Expansion
1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
The recent approval of two inland port projects in Tooele County, Utah, covering over 700 acres, raises significant concerns. Despite the Utah Inland Port Authority's (UIPA) commitment to sustainability, residents fear increased traffic, air pollution, and misuse of public funds. The Tooele Valley and Twenty Wells Project Areas, covering 243 and 498 acres respectively, will exacerbate these issues. It is crucial to reconsider the expansion of inland ports in Utah, currently totaling eight. The potential economic growth should not overshadow the potential environmental and social impacts. Therefore, a request is made to halt further development until a comprehensive, transparent review of the environmental and social implications is conducted. This will ensure a balance between economic development and the well-being of residents and the environment.
