As your constituent, I urge you to vote against the budget reconciliation package, up for a vote in the House this week.
This bill would decrease the after-tax income of taxpayers earning $51,000 or less by about $700 - $1,000, on average, while increasing the after-tax income of the top 0.1% of taxpayers by $389,000. It would also make health insurance unaffordable for around 4.2 million people by letting enhanced ACA tax credits expire, undoing meaningful progress in covering more low-wage earners. This comes on top of the 7.6 million people who will lose Medicaid coverage and more via other attacks on the ACA.
It will also cut SNAP, leaving millions with less food.
All told, if this bill becomes law, nearly 15 million people will lose their health care and millions more will lose nutrition assistance.
This bill takes from the poor to give to the rich, which is no way to run a society.
Please vote against this budget reconciliation bill.
Thank you.
