Protect Affordable Healthcare: Fund Medicare, Medicaid, & ACA

Healthcare costs are poised to dramatically increase costs for American families, potentially leaving millions uninsured and driving up healthcare expenses across the board due to the Trump administration's tariffs and other policy changes as well as Congress’ cuts in the OBBB. The expiration of enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits at the end of 2025 could lead to a staggering 75% average increase in marketplace premiums in 2026. This, coupled with new regulations that may reduce marketplace enrollment by up to 2 million people, will force many healthy individuals to drop their insurance. The consequences are dire: more people will delay necessary care, ultimately seeking help in emergency rooms - the most expensive care option - when their conditions become critical. Furthermore, Congress slashed Medicaid and Medicare funding. These cuts will leave millions uninsured resulting in increased uncompensated care costs, putting immense pressure on healthcare providers. We're already seeing hospitals close due to anticipated losses from these Medicaid cuts, a trend that will only worsen if action isn't taken. New regulations allowing higher deductibles and cost-sharing for employer-sponsored insurance plans could increase family costs by up to $900 in 2026. Additionally, tariffs, including those on prescription drugs, are contributing to insurance premium increases, further burdening American families. The solution is clear: Congress must fully fund Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA to ensure healthcare remains affordable and accessible. This investment will keep hospitals and providers afloat, prevent emergency room overcrowding, and ultimately drive down healthcare costs for everyone. Additionally I urge Congress to take back control of tariff policy to bring reason and stability to the tariff tax Americans are forced to pay.
