An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Restore WHO Funding and Pandemic Response

1,101 so far! Help us get to 2,000 signers!

Congress must act now to reverse the administration's withdrawal from the World Health Organization and restore funding for Ebola and pandemic response programs gutted by DOGE and USAID cuts. Containing outbreaks overseas isn't charity. It's the cheapest, most effective way to keep Americans safe. Ebola is spreading in the Democratic Republic of Congo right now. The frontline response teams that would normally be there, funded through USAID and coordinated through WHO, have been dismantled. That's not a policy disagreement. That's a decision to let a deadly virus gain ground. Communicable diseases don't respect borders, and a small outbreak that gets ahead of us becomes an exponentially harder problem to solve. Rejoining WHO and fully funding its outbreak response capacity is the smart, strategic move. Every dollar spent stopping Ebola in Congo is worth hundreds of dollars we won't have to spend managing it here. Push back on these cuts, restore this funding, and get the U.S. back into WHO before the next outbreak makes the cost of this shortsightedness impossible to ignore.
