Demand Immediate Arms Embargo on Israel for Assassinating 6 Journalists in Gaza

On August 10, 2025, the Israeli military deliberately and openly assassinated six Palestinian journalists in Gaza, including Al Jazeera’s internationally recognized correspondent Anas al-Sharif, a father of two young children. This was not “collateral damage” — it was a targeted strike on a clearly marked press tent near Al-Shifa Hospital, carried out just hours after al-Sharif condemned the international community’s complicity in Israel’s genocide. This atrocity comes as Prime Minister Netanyahu has publicly announced an escalation in Israel’s genocidal offensive on Gaza. The timing is no coincidence. Israel silenced one of Gaza’s most crucial voices in order to erase witnesses ahead of what they themselves admit will be the most brutal stage of their campaign. Israel admitted to targeting al-Sharif and his colleagues — Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, Moamen Aliwa, and one other journalist — then smeared al-Sharif as a Hamas commander, offering no verifiable evidence because none exists. Press freedom groups, independent analysts, and his colleagues confirm his daily work was standing in front of a camera, documenting the starvation, displacement, and mass killing of Palestinians. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, at least 192 journalists — including at least 184 Palestinian journalists — have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 7, 2023. Other organizations and local sources place the toll at over 220, underscoring the unprecedented scale of Israel’s assault on the press. This is not incidental. This is a systematic campaign to destroy Gaza’s voice, eliminate witnesses, and erase evidence of war crimes. You were elected to represent your constituents — not special interest groups tied to foreign governments. You swore an oath to uphold U.S. laws and defend liberty and justice for all. Your duty is not to defend war crimes and their perpetrators. You did not swear an oath to protect or excuse the systematic, militaristic oppression of an entire people. This is not a matter for future reflection or political posturing. The stakes are immediate, the crimes ongoing, and the consequences undeniable. The era of impunity is over. No more excuses. No more parroting baseless claims about Hamas to justify genocide. We demand action now — and we will hold you accountable now. You must: 1. Publicly condemn Israel’s assassination of the six Palestinian journalists in Gaza. 2. Demand independently verifiable evidence for Israel’s claims — evidence they have never produced. 3. Enact an immediate arms embargo on Israel for committing genocide in Gaza, targeting civilians and journalists, and blatantly violating international law. Every day you delay is another day the U.S. arms and shields a state committing genocide and eradicating press freedom. You are either upholding your oath — or you are complicit. Choose now.
