Oppose & Vote No on Fotouhi and Szabo for EPA Posts

Today, I take pen in hand to write and urge you to reject and vote NO on the nominations of David Fotouhi as Deputy Administrator of the EPA and Aaron Szabo as Assistant Administrator for the Office of Air and Radiation. Both these men have questionable track records that suggest they will undermine environmental protections rather than uphold them. As an attorney, Fotouhi defended major corporations against EPA enforcement actions for environmental violations. Some of Fotouhi’s former clients like Luminant, American Forest and Paper Association, and Matador Resources remain in litigation for failing to meet EPA standards. During the first Trump administration, Fotouhi pushed to weaken safeguards against air and water pollution, endangering public health. Reading this record you must ask: How many people have died because of the work of David Fotouhi? Turning to Aaron Szabo: He contributed to Project 2025, which recommended rolling back the EPA's endangerment finding on greenhouse gases, lifesaving pollution standards, and hazardous substance designations. He has lobbied for the American Petroleum Institute and other fossil fuel interests seeking to diminish EPA's regulatory authority, and that have spent billions to lie and spread disinformation about the dangers of climate-change causing pollution. Putting Fotouhi and Szabo in key EPA leadership roles is antithetical to the agency's mission of protecting the environment and public health. They are unfit for their posts, and dangerous men with no scruples. Oppose and Vote NO on Szabo and Fotouhi.
