I’m writing to urge you to oppose any efforts to restrict the teaching of critical race theory (CRT) in schools. The push to ban CRT is not about education—it’s about censorship, erasing history, and protecting white supremacy. It’s a deliberate effort to keep students ignorant about systemic racism and the ongoing impact of racial injustice in this country.
CRT is not some radical ideology; it’s an academic framework that examines how racism is embedded in laws, policies, and institutions. The backlash against it is driven by fear—fear of accountability, fear of an informed citizenry, and fear of justice. Efforts to ban CRT mirror past attempts to suppress discussions of slavery, segregation, and civil rights. Censoring history doesn’t erase its consequences.
If you truly believe in freedom, then you should support the right to teach the truth. If you claim to stand for education, then you should oppose government overreach in the classroom. Stop playing politics with history, and start defending the right of students to learn the full, unvarnished truth about this country.
I expect you to publicly oppose these censorship efforts and take a stand for honest education. Anything less is complicity in whitewashing history.
