I write with a profound sense of urgency about the leadership of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. His tenure—marked by widespread criticism from both public health authorities and bipartisan lawmakers—poses a direct threat to the health and safety of the American people.
He has led to an Erosion of Science-Based Public Health. Secretary Kennedy has removed all 17 members of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and replaced them with vaccine skeptics, while also firing CDC Director Susan Monarez and prompting resignations by other senior officials—moves described as “chaos” and dangerously anti-science by leading national figures.
There have been Bipartisan Condemnation and Calls for Resignation or Removal. During a Senate Finance Committee hearing on September 4, 2025, Kennedy faced sharply critical questioning from both Republican and Democratic senators. Several Senators insisted he either resign or be fired, citing the damage to public trust and health messaging.
Public Health Experts and Former CDC Leaders are expressing alarm. An op-ed in The New York Times from nine former CDC directors outlined how Kennedy’s actions have severely weakened public health infrastructure—calling his leadership “undermining public health” and “endangering every American’s health”. Health experts similarly warn that his persistent efforts to undermine science have made Americans less safe.
Finance Committee Democrats have issued a formal demand that Kennedy resign, and recommended President Trump remove him, stating he “has failed to protect the health of the American people, particularly children and vulnerable populations”.
Given these facts, Kennedy’s continued position as HHS Secretary is untenable and dangerous. I urge you to:
• Join Senate colleagues in calling for his immediate removal.
• Support robust oversight to restore scientific and public health integrity at HHS and CDC.
• Ensure future leadership is grounded in empirical evidence and public well-being.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. Our nation’s health infrastructure depends on principled, science-based leadership—something that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has demonstrably failed to uphold.
