Protect Funding for Clean School Buses

I’m writing to demand you protect funding for the Clean School Bus Program (CSBP). School districts have benefited greatly, but the recent funding freeze has caused chaos, delays, and budget crises. While the EPA has released some funds, the future is uncertain, and there’s still $2 billion left to be allocated. The CSBP has been a massive success: Nearly $3 billion awarded since 2022, with almost 8,700 clean buses in 1,200 districts across all 50 states and more than 2,200 electric buses already on the road. 75% of funding has gone to low-income, rural, or Tribal districts. Demand is through the roof, with $8 billion requested and only $3 billion awarded so far. Over 1,000 districts are still waiting for funding. Rural communities, in particular, are thriving with this program, increasing clean buses by 180% since 2022. These areas rely on old, polluting buses, and CSBP funding helps them modernize their fleets with the cleanest technologies available. Without continued funding, we’ll face: Dirtier Air: Older buses mean more diesel pollution linked to serious health problems. Our kids spend hours on these buses each day. They deserve better. A Weaker Grid: Electric buses help stabilize the power grid by transferring energy when needed. Cutting this funding weakens national security. Lost Jobs: The clean bus industry is American-made. Cutting funding hurts U.S. manufacturers and job growth. For the health of our children, the environment, and our future, we need this funding to continue. Don’t let this opportunity slip away.
