Congress: Support All Means to End Military Escalation in the Middle East

I’m writing to urge you to take immediate legislative action via the War Powers Act to halt the illegal, escalating military conflict between the United States snd Iran, and that is rapidly expanding across the Middle East. The human cost of this conflict is already devastating, and further escalation threatens both regional stability and American lives. Joint US-Israeli military operations in Iran have killed at least 555 people. In Lebanon, Israeli strikes have killed 31 people following rocket attacks from Hezbollah. Iranian retaliatory strikes continue throughout the Gulf region, including an attack on an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman that killed one person and drone attacks on energy infrastructure in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Even US forces have suffered losses, with several warplanes mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses, though crew members survived. President Trump has stated that military operations will continue until all objectives are achieved and has vowed to avenge the deaths of three US soldiers. This commitment is intentionally vague, bevause there is NO PLAN. Meanwhile the geographic scope is already expanding dangerously, with attacks now spanning Iran, Lebanon, Kuwait, and critical energy infrastructure across the Gulf. I urge you to publicly call for an immediate ceasefire and to support diplomatic efforts to de-escalate this crisis. Congress has the constitutional authority to check executive military action, and you have the responsibility to prevent an open-ended war that serves no clear American interest. The deaths of hundreds of people demand that we pursue every diplomatic avenue before more lives are lost. Congress must act. Stopping a conflict does not means support for any side, it simply means doing what is right. Thank you.
