I am writing to demand your immediate action to cosponsor Representative Pramila Jayapal’s Joint Disapproval Resolutions—H.J.Res. 68, 69, 70, and 71—to block the Trump administration’s proposed $8.56 billion weapons transfer to Israel. The United States must cease its support for Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people. Any representative who fails to act is complicit in these atrocities.
Since October 2023, Israel has massacred over 43,500 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children. It has bombed hospitals, starved entire communities, and used U.S.-supplied weapons to commit atrocities that meet the legal definition of genocide. The Trump administration’s response? To send even more bombs, more tanks, and more artillery shells to ensure the slaughter continues. Congress has a moral and legal obligation to stop it.
The U.S. is already violating domestic and international law by arming Israel. Under the Leahy Laws and the Arms Export Control Act, U.S. military aid cannot be provided to forces committing gross human rights violations. Continuing to send weapons makes the U.S. a direct accomplice to Israel’s crimes, including its deliberate starvation campaign. The International Court of Justice has already ruled that Israel is plausibly committing genocide. Yet this administration—and any member of Congress who does not take action—insists on being on the wrong side of history.
These Joint Disapproval Resolutions are a test of whether you stand for human rights or for genocide. Which side will you be on?
