Sen Cruz: Stop Lying & Stand for 11m of your Democrat & Independent Constituents

Senator Cruz, your claim that George Soros is funding protests against Trump are lies. The $3 million grant you referenced went to Indivisible in 2023 for social welfare activities, not for organizing demonstrations. You’re deliberately conflating a general nonprofit grant with direct funding of protests. Right here in Texas, over 15,000 people peacefully gathered in Houston today. In Austin, the Austin Police Department reported zero arrests and publicly thanked organizers for ensuring voices were heard safely and respectfully. These aren’t paid agitators. They’re your constituents and they’re Texans.
You represent approximately 8.1 million Democrats and 2.75 million independents in this state. That’s nearly 11 million of your constituents who didn’t vote for Trump’s agenda. When you vilify peaceful protesters and push legislation allowing the DOJ to prosecute people for funding constitutionally protected demonstrations, you abandon millions of Texans. Your job is to represent everyone in this state, not just the Trump base. I’ve written you hundreds of letters. No one answers your phones. You ignore constituents who disagree with you.
Republicans in your own party are sounding alarms about Trump bypassing congressional authority. Senator Lisa Murkowski questioned the administration reprogramming $396 billion in funds without approval. Senator Patty Murray stated she doesn’t know what legal authority Trump is using to shift funding. This isn’t partisan fearmongering. Your Republican colleagues are warning that the executive branch is seizing power that belongs to Congress. You took an oath to the Constitution, not to Donald Trump. When members of your own party raise constitutional concerns, your silence speaks volumes.
Trump is using tactics Nixon tried in the 1970s, which led Congress to pass the Impoundment Control Act specifically to prevent this executive overreach. History is watching. Future students will study this moment when Congress either defended its constitutional authority or surrendered it entirely. You can stop spreading lies about peaceful Texans exercising their First Amendment rights, start representing all your constituents, and hold this administration accountable to the law.
