An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Hard NO to the immoral budget bill. Uphold Byrd, don't grab food from children

827 so far! Help us get to 1,000 signers!

I'm writing to ask you to reject the big budget bill. PLEASE vote NO. A "budget" that includes any provision at all that hinders constitutional checks and balances is a betrayal of your sworn duty to the constitution . This budget contains a section that will prevent courts from enforcing national injunctions. I would like you to insist on adhering to the Byrd Rule. NO poison additions that increase executive overreach. I also ask you to reject cuts to SNAP, Medicaid and Medicare. In what alternative moral universe is it okay to explode the deficit to allow the billionaires to have a tax cut while making more children hungry and snatching access to health care from your constituents whose survival may depend on it. If you aren't willing to oppose SNAP cuts out of universal decency or because the Gospels enjoin you to feed the hungry, then know that snap is highly correlated with better educational and employment outcomes. This Budget bill is actively harmful to the rule of law and to the lives and health of those you should serve. Reject it. Demand better. Work for us and serve us and the Constitution please.
