Please support the COUP Act

Hi, I'm writing as a constituent about the police officers at the Capitol last week. While most of them were incredible patriots who defended our lawmakers bravely and successfully, there were rogue officers there who abetted the insurrectionists and must be held accountable. They were able to get as far as they did partially because of biased policing. Biased policing is a security threat because it leads us to mark innocent people as threats and terrorists as innocent. This is what happened at the Capitol on Wednesday, and it resulted in a police-aided coup. That's where Jamall Bowman's the Congressional Oversight and Unjust Policing (COUP) Act comes in. The COUP Act is legislation that calls on the creation of a commission to investigate and intercept police misconduct and incompetence on Capitol Hill. Simply firing the heads of the Capitol police won't be enough. We need a detailed investigation and course of action to redeem trust and restore security, and a commission to investigate the attack and ties between white supremacists and Capitol Police.
