Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Justice - IMPEACH TRUMP NOW!
3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
I am writing to urge Congress to open an impeachment investigation into President Donald Trump on the grounds of abuse of power and obstruction of justice. His actions, particularly regarding January 6, 2021, constitute a direct assault on the principles of our democracy and demand accountability.
Trump’s use of the presidential pardon power to absolve January 6 insurrectionists—including seditious conspirators—is a blatant abuse of authority. These pardons shield individuals who actively sought to overthrow the government and undermine the peaceful transfer of power. Trump himself incited the violent attack on the Capitol by urging hundreds of insurrectionists to attempt to overturn the 2020 election, which he had rightfully lost.
The co-insurrectionists seized control of the Capitol, disrupted the certification of electoral votes, assaulted law enforcement officers and journalists, vandalized congressional offices, and directly threatened the lives of lawmakers and law enforcement. These events, sparked by Trump’s rhetoric and actions, are among the darkest moments in our nation’s history.
Additionally, Trump has obstructed investigations and accountability efforts by shielding himself and his allies from the consequences of their roles in the insurrection. This obstruction not only delays justice but also erodes the rule of law, setting a dangerous precedent for future leaders.
In the face of such abuses, Congress has a constitutional responsibility under Article II, Section 4, to initiate an impeachment inquiry. This is not a partisan matter but a moral and legal imperative to uphold our democracy, the rule of law, and the sanctity of the Constitution.
By initiating impeachment proceedings, Congress will demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding democracy and holding the president accountable. Failure to act risks further eroding public trust and emboldening future abuses of power. The time for decisive action is now.
I respectfully urge you to prioritize this matter and fulfill your duty to protect our democracy.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
