Demand for Accountability – Secretary Pete Hegseth and the Minab School Strike

I am writing to you today to express my grave concern regarding the recent military actions in Iran, specifically the February 28, 2026, strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab. The evidence coming out of the oversight committee is damning. There are credible reports that this strike utilized outdated intelligence and occurred after the Pete Hegseth's Department of Defense dismantled civilian-protection protocols. It is highly alarming that there has been no formal, transparent investigation into how a school was targeted: and it is even more alarming that the administration has lied again and again to the American people about what happened there, instead of taking accountability. While I understand that party lines are deeply drawn in Washington, the duty to oversee the Executive Branch and the Department of Defense is a Constitutional mandate, not a political choice. A Secretary of Defense who refuses to account for civilian casualties and bypasses Congressional briefings is a liability to our national security and the moral standing of our Armed Forces. I am asking you to: 1.. Demand a full, public investigation into the Minab school strike and the lethality first targeting protocols. 2.. Support a War Powers Resolution to ensure no further unauthorized strikes occur without Congressional debate. 3.. Exercise your oversight authority to determine if Secretary Hegseth’s conduct meets the standard of high crimes and misdemeanors as outlined in recent articles of inquiry. 4.. Insist on truthful transparent reporting from all members of our government regarding this strike. Frankly, I am exhausted by the constant lies coming from this administration, and I am sick of learning that my representation in Congress is not calling out those lies. Our state has a long and proud history of military service. We deserve a Department of Defense that honors that service through transparency and the rule of law. I look forward to seeing how you will act to restore accountability to the Department of Defense.
