Yoav Gallant, the former Israel Defense Minister, plans to travel to the United States despite an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. The warrant was issued after Israel's devastating offensive on Gaza that has killed over 44,000 Palestinians, wounded over 100,000, and left more than 10,000 unaccounted for under the rubble of their homes. Gallant's trip risks an emergency landing and arrest in any of the 123 countries that recognize the ICC's jurisdiction. As a state party to the Rome Statute, the United States has a legal obligation to execute the arrest warrant if Gallant enters its territory. In light of the grave violations against Palestinian civilians, including the use of banned weapons, forced displacement of millions, and the imposition of a deadly blockade leading to famine, Gallant must be barred from entering the country and face prosecution for his role in these unconscionable atrocities. www.palestinechronicle.com/yoav-gallant-to-travel-to-us-despite-icc-arrest-warrant-for-gaza-war-crimes/ doen
