Promote humane treatment of animals - Support HB 131

I am writing to express my strong support for Delaware House Bill 131, which aims to prohibit the sale of dogs and cats in retail pet stores and promote the adoption of animals from shelters and rescue organizations. Prohibiting these sales will help reduce the demand for animals from inhumane breeding facilities, such as puppy mills, and instead encourage the adoption of animals in need of loving homes.
This legislation is not only a crucial step towards ensuring the humane treatment of animals and preventing animal cruelty, but it also supports the tireless work and great care of Delaware’s local shelters and rescue organizations. By partnering with shelters and rescues, retail stores can play a positive role in our community and help address the issue of pet overpopulation.
I urge you to vote in favor of HB 131 and to advocate for its passage. Your support is essential in making Delaware a leader in animal welfare and ensuring that our state upholds the highest standards of compassion and care for all animals.
