DEMAND ACTION FOR THE FLOTTILLA PARTICIPANTS AND AN END TO ISRAELI IMPUNITY

Last week, Adalah Justice Project sent lawyers to meet with participants of the recent humanitarian Flotilla to Gaza, who were illegally captured in international waters by Israel and illegally detained at Ktzi’ot Prison.
What they uncovered is deeply alarming:
⚠️ Approximately 200 hearings were held in secret — without any notice to defense lawyers and without legal representation for those detained.
Flotilla participants report inhumane and degrading treatment:
No food, no clean water, and medical care denied
Physical assaults by prison guards
Withheld medications and stolen belongings
Several participants also witnessed the brutal assault of climate activist Greta Thunberg. According to Reuters, two participants — Hazwani Helmi (Malaysia) and Windfield Beaver (United States) — confirmed the reports of abuse:
“It was a disaster. They treated us like animals,” said Helmi. Greta Thunberg was “shoved, forced to wear the Israeli flag.” Other flotilla participants reported seeing Greta being dragged across the floor by her hair and forced to kiss the Israeli flag.
The mother of two Massachusetts Flotilla participants, Torlief and Adnaan Stumo, reported that Torlief has injuries to his hands and wrists and that the U.S. embassy requested medical treatment. Adnaan is reportedly on a hunger strike, and his family believes Torlief is as well.
Multiple reports from attorneys and those who have been released indicate that Israeli soldiers, prison guards, and even political figures such as Minister Ben Gvir have been involved in their mistreatment.
These are humanitarian volunteers — global citizens doing the work our governments refuse to do: challenging Israel’s illegal blockade on desperately needed humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Many of the Flotilla participants are now being deported, yet the U.S. government has remained disturbingly silent about its own citizens detained and assaulted by a foreign power.
We demand immediate public action from every Senator and Representative — especially those whose states are home to these detained Americans.
Every Member of Congress must act — NOW. Even if your state has no flotilla participants, you are not off the hook. What Israel has done is a flagrant violation of international law.
🚨 Another flotilla has already set sail toward Gaza. 🚨 Currently 22 U.S. citizens are aboard. 🚨 They are expected to arrive within days.
You must demand:
Immediate protection for all flotilla participants and their safe return home
An investigation of the inhumane treatment of all flotilla participants
A permanent ceasefire in Gaza
An arms embargo on Israel
Sanctions on Israel for ongoing war crimes
The American people have been clear: No more weapons for Israel. No more complicity. Israel is a rogue apartheid state, and U.S. support has enabled its crimes for too long. It’s time to end unconditional aid and hold Israel accountable — now.
Act. Speak. Demand justice.
