An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Congress must reclaim the Constitutional duty of waging/avoiding war.

It's not unusual for a president to wield war powers unilaterally. However, it is unconstitutional. In past decades, Congress has allowed this. But that is incorrect. There's a reason that Congress has the war powers, and that is that Congress is meant to be responsive to the needs of the people (even if it's functionally not at present, due to capture by moneyed interests). The people do not want this. The people do not have the money to finance this. When Russia invaded Ukraine a couple years ago, there was a poll on a news site. They asked about WWIII. My reply was that it had already begun. I hoped I was wrong. But nothing that has happened since has changed my mind that that's a likely possibility. The White House has just escalated that war. You need to reassert the Constitutional duty of Congress to decide whether or not to wage war. And you need to put a stop to this effort in the Middle East. I want to remind you of a quote attributed to Albert Einstein: "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
