Why Are Senators Giving Themselves Paydays While Americans Struggle?

I am writing to express my outrage and deep disappointment that eight Senators reportedly wrote a massive payday for themselves into the latest funding bill — at a time when millions of Americans are told there is “no money” for critical programs that feed children, support seniors, or pay our essential workers.
How is it that there’s “no money” for SNAP, no money for education, no money for affordable housing, and no money for veterans — yet somehow, there’s money for Senators’ own financial gain? This is hypocrisy of the highest order. If this isn’t corruption, it’s at least a blatant betrayal of the American people’s trust.
You claim fiscal responsibility when it comes to cutting food assistance, disaster relief, or healthcare — but that principle vanishes the moment it affects your own pockets. Americans are struggling to pay rent, buy groceries, afford medication, and keep their lights on. Meanwhile, the same lawmakers responsible for those hardships are enriching themselves under the cover of a funding bill that should be serving the public, not lining politicians’ wallets.
This looks like bribery disguised as governance, and the people of this nation deserve answers — now.
• Who authorized these payouts?
• What justification was given?
• Why was this not openly debated before being buried in a must-pass bill?
You were elected to serve the American people — not to serve yourselves. It’s time for accountability, transparency, and integrity in how taxpayer money is used.
We see what’s happening. We are not fooled. And we will not forget.
