An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Request for DHS Review and Release of Leqaa Kordia

12 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I’m writing to urge the Department of Homeland Security to review the continued detention of Leqaa Kordia, who has been held by ICE since March 13, 2025. Public reporting and advocates’ filings indicate she was detained following a prior protest-related arrest and that advocates argue her detention is retaliatory and inconsistent with rights to free expression and peaceful assembly. I urge DHS to ensure her rights are respected and to release her absent a lawful, individualized justification for continued detention.
