Enforce Your Constitutional Authority Before It’s Too Late

Congress was elected to be a coequal branch of government—not a spectator. The Constitution gives you the power and responsibility to check a president who exceeds the limits of the law. It is time to use that authority before the damage becomes irreversible. This administration has repeatedly pushed the boundaries of executive power, forcing courts across the country to intervene. Judges appointed by presidents of both parties have blocked or questioned numerous executive actions after finding likely violations of federal law or the Constitution. The rule of law cannot survive if Congress simply waits for the courts to clean up every abuse. Now President Trump continues to publicly discuss seeking another term in 2028 despite the Twenty-Second Amendment, which states that no person shall be elected President more than twice. Whether these statements are intended as political theater or not is beside the point. An administration that has repeatedly tested legal limits should not be given the benefit of the doubt. When a president openly suggests ignoring a constitutional barrier, Congress has an obligation to respond—not dismiss it as a joke. Every day Congress fails to act, it sends the message that constitutional limits are optional and that executive overreach carries no consequences. That is a dangerous precedent for every future president, regardless of party. Conduct aggressive oversight. Enforce subpoenas. Hold officials accountable for defying the law. Defend Congress’s constitutional authority. Defend the separation of powers. Defend the Constitution you swore an oath to uphold. History will not judge you by the speeches you gave. It will judge you by whether you acted while there was still time. The American people deserve a government where no president is above the law. The time for passive observation has passed.
