Stop the Attack on Transgender Veterans and Transgender Kansans

Kris Kobach’s enforcement of a law that reverts transgender and gender-diverse people’s state identifications and birth records in the state to match sex observed at birth effectively outs and endangers this minority community of trans people, which includes many trans veterans in Kansas. Even more than ‘outting’ them, it can and will lead to harassment by those who check driver’s licenses, birth certificates, and other state-issued IDs. The potential negative impact on these individuals who have served our country is significant and unjust. As an elected official, I request your review of this decision, taking into account the diverse identities and experiences of all Kansas citizens. The goal should be to foster an inclusive, respectful environment for all rather than promoting policies that marginalize the people of Kansas.
