Vote NO on AB 89

I am writing to urge you to vote NO on AB 89, which is a hateful bill excluding trans youth from sports in school. Obviously this bill is an attempt to push hatred and bigotry towards transgender individuals. This bill will harm trans kids who will be excluded, targeted, and dehumanized by the very government they’re supposed to trust. This bill will also harm cis children who will be subject to accusations of “being the wrong gender” and will have to be subjected to whatever “gender validation” method is used to prove their gender. Most importantly, this bill sacrifices a vulnerable minority to appease the right wing culture war. The vast majority of states that passed a trans sports ban in the past years went on to enact further harmful and restrictive bills targeting the LGBTQ+ community and other vulnerable minority groups. We will not stand for this in California. We will not capitulate to the right wing. We will not toss aside the rights of our most vulnerable. Protect children. Vote NO on AB 89.
