Impose an arms embargo on Israel for targeting humanitarian aid workers

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor report sheds light on the dire famine unfolding in the Gaza Strip, where Israel's policies and actions have deliberately created conditions of severe famine. According to the report, Israel has systematically targeted Palestinians waiting for aid, aid distribution centers, workers involved in aid delivery, and aid convoys. Over 500 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,500 injured as a result. These disturbing findings indicate a deliberate effort by Israel to weaponize starvation against the civilian population of Gaza. Israel's destruction of vital infrastructure like mills, bakeries, farms, and fishing equipment has only exaggerated the famine in Gaza. Coupled with the prolonged blockade and closure of border crossings, this has rendered the population entirely dependent on humanitarian aid for survival. Yet even this lifeline is being cut off through the deliberate targeting of aid workers and convoys. Such actions constitute grave breaches of international humanitarian law and could amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. They demonstrate an utter disregard for the basic human rights and dignity of the Palestinian people in Gaza. An urgent intervention is needed to prevent further loss of innocent lives and a worsening famine. Continuing to supply weapons only enables these brutal policies of starvation and collective punishment against a trapped civilian population. In light of these appalling findings, I urge you to support the implementation of a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel. Concrete actions must be taken to pressure Israel to immediately halt its criminal conduct, lift the siege, and allow unfettered humanitarian access to Gaza.
