The torture and inhumane treatment inflicted upon Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, by Israeli authorities during his detention are deeply disturbing. According to his lawyer, he has endured severe beatings, prolonged interrogations, and deprivation of basic rights in an attempt to extract forced confessions. This egregious conduct violates fundamental human rights and cannot be tolerated. Israel must be held accountable for these abuses against a civilian medical Doctor whose role should be protected, not persecuted. To condemn such actions and prevent further violations, immediate measures are warranted. An independent investigation into Dr. Abu Safiya's case and the treatment of Palestinian detainees should be launched. Furthermore, economic and diplomatic pressures, including a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel, must be considered until tangible steps are taken to uphold human rights, cease torture practices, and dismantle the unjust administrative detention system commonly used against Palestinians.
