congress I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the delay in swearing in Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva, who recently won a decisive victory in the special election for Arizona’s 7th Congressional District. She won by over 40 points — a clear mandate from the people she was elected to represent.
All duly elected members of Congress must be treated the same way, regardless of their political party or the color of their skin. It is unacceptable for partisan politics or systemic bias to interfere with the timely seating of a member who has been chosen by the voters in a free and fair election.
Any delay in seating Rep.-Elect Grijalva undermines both the democratic process and the principle of equal representation. I urge you to demand that Speaker Mike Johnson immediately swear her in and ensure that the people of Arizona’s 7th District are not disenfranchised any longer.
I expect your office to take a public stand in defense of democratic integrity, equal treatment under the law, and the swift recognition of every duly elected member of Congress.
